Artsy
Artsy, the resource for learning about and collecting art from over 40 of the world’s most influential art and design fairs, is the official online partner of Design Miami/ Basel. Collectors and design enthusiasts can explore Design Miami/ Basel 2015, inquire on works for sale, and view special features on Artsy.net and the Artsy app for iPhone.
Artsy’s exclusive online preview of Design Miami/ Basel 2015 opens June 9, where users may view works and contact galleries with inquiries beginning one week prior to the opening of the physical fair. The Design Miami/ Basel microsite will remain live on Artsy throughout the length of the fair, with new works updated daily.
For those visiting the fair in person, the Artsy app for iPhone, which is free to download at iPhone.artsy.net, functions as a personal mobile guide for navigating the fair and researching exhibitors, designers, and works. A quick tap displays exhibitor listings and booth locations; contextual information about designers and works, including designer bios, articles, and price details (where available); and lists of other similar works at the fair. Users can follow galleries and designers for future updates.
At the fair, visit the Artsy Design Curio booth, C05, where Swiss product designer Sibylle Stœckli will debut a site-specific installation for the tenth edition of #ArtsyTakeover, a project series in which Artsy invites contemporary artists and designers to reimagine art-fair spaces. This installation is an extension of Stœckli's Global Design Research, an around-the-world project in design and social organization that involves discussion between designers and craftsmen about objects and their relationship to food, and all mankind. The #ArtsyTakeover installation, consisting of printed newspaper as wallpaper and design objects that relate to food in both a practical and abstract way, will offer fairgoers a space to reflect and exchange thoughts on food through a broad cultural, biological, and anthropological lens.
